Welcome Week begins with a New Student Convocation at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Bren Events Center. Other events include a Dean's Welcome, Anteater Involvement Fair, Late Night with Campus Recreation and more.

Humanities Gateway dedication, Oct. 2

Humanities Gateway includes a 110-seat auditorium, film screening room and courtyard for events.

A dedication ceremony for the new Humanities Gateway building will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, followed by a reception and open house with displays, demonstrations, readings, screenings and building tours. RSVP by Sept. 25 to 949-824-5133 or humanities@uci.edu.

Media Alchemy of Nam June Paik, Oct. 2-Dec. 5

Nam June Paik's rarely seen "Gulliver" is among the artist's body/robot works featured at the Beall Center.

Works by pioneering video artist Nam June Paik (1932-2006) will be displayed at the Beall Center for Art & Technology Oct. 2-Dec. 5. Opening reception will be held 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.

Francisco Ayala will speak on "Darwin's Gift to Science and Religion."

UCI Libraries' fall exhibit, "So Simple a Beginning: 150 Years of Darwin," opens with a talk by Francisco Ayala, UCI Donald Bren Professor of Biological Sciences, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in Langson Library. RSVP by Oct. 16 at 949-824-5300 or partners@uci.edu.
