Waiting for Godot

Drama professor Robert Cohen's staging of Samuel Beckett's tragicomedy about two famous tramps waiting for their savior is a fresh take on the play, inspired by a letter the author once wrote to Cohen. 8 p.m. Oct. 21, 22, 27 & 29 and 2 p.m. Oct. 22, 23 & 29. $11-$15. Acting workshops and theoretical presentations are among the events that will celebrate drama professor Robert Cohen’s many contributions to the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. In addition, a theater named for him will be dedicated at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, and there will be an alumni brunch at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. More: 949-824-6614.

‘A Memorable Evening’ with Marilu Henner, Nov. 4

Marilu Henner, a five-time Golden Globe nominee, played Elaine Nardo on TV’s “Taxi” and has starred on Broadway.

UCI’s Center for the Neurobiology of Learning & Memory will host a silent auction and dinner, with entertainment by actress Marilu Henner. Her recent appearance on "60 Minutes" introduced the world to her superior autobiographical memory. 6:30-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. $100. (Proceeds will go to the CNLM.) University Club. Arts grand-opening celebration, Nov. 9

The Contemporary Arts Center grand-opening celebration will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, with brief remarks by UCI Chancellor Michael Drake and local elected officials. Tours, performances and demonstrations highlighting work by the center’s artists and studios will continue throughout the evening; food will be available; and Men in Blaque, UCI’s award-winning male choir, will perform in the Meditation Garden.
