A '60s-era photo from the UCI Special Collections shows life on the Social Sciences Farm.

An exhibit of photographs and documents from the UCI Special Collections chronicling the university's experiment in intercultural exchange in the late '60s, which brought indigenous people from Guatemala, Mexico and Samoa to an undeveloped plot on campus known as the Social Sciences Farm. Sponsored by the University of California Institute for Research in the Arts and curated by Robbie Kett, UCI anthropology graduate student, and Anna Kryczka, UCI visual studies graduate student. 3-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, through July 20. New Swan Shakespeare Festival, Aug. 9-26

The New Swan Theater, a mini-Elizabethan stage, will be set up at Gateway Commons.

The New Swan Shakespeare Festival launches its inaugural season with performances under the stars on a mini-Elizabethan stage. "The Comedy of Errors" 8 p.m. Aug. 9-11, 23, 25 & 26.
